Go Swimming, Snorkelling, or Fishing

During summer, Cockburn Sound is a kaleidoscope of colour with aquatic pursuits in full progress including yachting, boating, sea kayaking and of course swimming. The beach is only 50 metres from your front door and is the safest beach in the region with calm water and shallow depth (ideal for young children). Participate as you will or perhaps just watch and relax while improving your sun tan on the beach (don't forget to take an umbrella and a good book!)

Bring your fishing lines and try your luck fishing directly in front of your house either from the beach itself or from the charming Rockingham Jetty. Bring/hire your boat and go crabbing or fishing in the protected waters of "The Sound", or beyond the islands for the bigger game. When you return, just throw out the anchor and walk straight up to the house for a well earned refreshing drink on your balcony.

If you're a regular swimmer and into fitness, how about trying the 'jetty to jetty' swim every morning? Walk down to Rockingham Jetty, put on your goggles and set off along the shoreline to Palm Beach Jetty. Simply follow 'the blue line' which clearly separates shallow water from the deep. You can walk back home along the beach but if you're up to it, turn around and swim back to Rockingham Jetty (the return swim is approximately 1.3km).

Fancy getting acquainted with our underwater sea life? Head to the nearby Cape Peron Snorkel Trail, it's safe, educational and fun. Venture further to Shoalwater Bay to walk across the bar at low tide (or catch a ferry) to Penguin Island to view fairy penguins and the island's flora and fauna. Take a boat to the fabulous Turquoise Bay at the back of Garden Island or make friends with the seals on Carnac Island. Or perhaps a short car trip to Secret Harbour for a spot of surfing?

Visit Penguin Island or Dive with the Dolphins

While you're here, summer or winter - don't forget to spend some with our famous Rockingham dolphins. There are plenty of them and they are very friendly! Dolphin Cruise boats leave daily from Rockingham Jetty to take you to watch, swim, snorkel or dive with these magnificent creatures. An unforgettable experience to take home with you.

Get Fit - Plenty of Walk and Bike Trails

During the cooler winter months, your stay can be equally enjoyable with plenty of land-based activities and bicycle and walk trails. Perhaps a promenade on the boardwalk to Point Peron or a long leisurely lunch at a local restaurant, there are plenty!

Game of golf or tennis? Tennis courts and a number of quality golf courses are locally available. You can even try your hand at ten pin bowling! Or just retreat inside to relax, curl up on the lounge, read a book, enjoy the sunset and watch the world go by, it's your choice!
